Shafaq News / The Sultanate of Oman announced today, Friday, its support for the tripartite agreement that was announced yesterday between the UAE, Israel and the United States, describing it as a "historic declaration."

An official spokesperson for the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs “expressed the Sultanate’s support for the UAE’s decision regarding relations with Israel.”

The Omani Foreign Ministry spokesperson also expressed - according to the official Oman News Agency - his hope that this decision will contribute to achieving comprehensive peace in the Middle East, in a way that serves the aspirations of the peoples of the region in the sustainability of security and stability.

The agreement, which will be known as the "Abraham accords” Agreement, is considered the first of its kind since Israel and Jordan signed a peace treaty in 1994.

The accords most” prominent” provision is Israel's agreement to suspend the extension of its sovereignty over areas of the West Bank that it was considering annexing.

Observers believe that the Emirati move will encourage many countries in the region to follow the example of Abu Dhabi and conclude similar agreements with Israel in the near future.
